The Nigel 'Boy' Syer Story

Nigel 'Boy' Syer is a name that's fast becoming known throughout the length and breadth of East Anglia. Star of stage, TV and Radio, Nigel has risen to fame through his performances and his recordings - a reputation built up through determination and hard work. Catch him in action and you'll understand just why it is that this 'son of a warrener' has become such a success

Born in Norfolk, Nige Syer Nigel spent his formative youth roaming the local countryside with his father, Ray, now retired, who was a warrener (rabbit catcher). During this time Nigel learned respect for the countryside, the animals, and the people whose livelihood depends on the subtle balance between mankind and nature. From a background so deeply entrenched in all things 'country', it really comes as no surprise to find the lyrics in Nigel's recordings covering virtually all the aspects of the Norfolk way of life.

Having witnessed Nigel's performances on stages in various East Anglian locations, it's not difficult to understand why this man and his music is so adored by his audiences. His music, his jokes, his views and insights on the country way of life are so accessible, so easy for us to associate with, so...human!

Time and again audiences have been drawn under Nigel's magical aura, as he weaves parodies and pastiche in comedy and song; his evident happiness leaving his listeners captivated - filled with a sense of fun, laughter and well being; something perhaps more of us should be lucky enough to enjoy.

As Nigel himself has said on several occasions, "I just keep my eyes open. Everywhere! All the time!" A keen observer of life, he is able to translate his perceptions into words and music, thus allowing the rest of us to share in his world and experience his love of the countryside.

And why 'Boy' ? In Norfolk, everyone's a 'Boy' - it's as simple as that.

APPEARANCES: ITV, BBC Radio Suffolk, Anglia TV, BBC Radio Norfolk and at theatres throughout East Anglia

What the people say.... 'Something of a unique speciality this; plenty of saucy gags and Norfolk ramblings, interspersed with a selection of songs. A gentle style of humour and a pleasant change from the in yer face type of comedy often favoured by summer show producers'.
